About The Position
The Lab Assistant plays a vital role in the initial processing of patient specimens. This position is responsible for receiving, labeling, entering, and preparing specimens for testing, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and compliance with laboratory protocols.
Requirements
- Associates degree with a minimum of 24 science credits
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer proficiency and data entry skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Nice To Haves
- Previous laboratory or specimen handling experience preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect specimens for proper labeling and documentation
- Accurately enter patient and specimen data
- Label specimens and test requisitions with unique identifiers
- Prepare specimens for testing and transport to the appropriate department
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace in compliance with safety regulations
- Communicate effectively with lab personnel, couriers, and healthcare providers
- Assist with inventory management and supply stocking
