About The Position

Under the direction of professional staff, supports laboratory operations, performs maintenance functions, and completes non-technical routine laboratory tests and procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment
  • Knowledge of the maintenance of routine records and reports
  • Ability to learn elementary laboratory techniques and safety precautions

Responsibilities

  • Washes laboratory glassware, instruments and/or cages after use. Replaces defective or broken glassware/instruments from stock
  • Sterilizes and/or stores clean glassware, instruments, and/or changes.
  • Maintains a clean and sterilized work area in accordance with standard laboratory practices and procedures. Disposes of contaminated matter as needed.
  • Distributes supplies and equipment for use as directed.
  • Conducts non-technical, routine laboratory tests and procedures under the direction of professional staff.
  • May set up and operate laboratory equipment in preparation for specimen examinations.
  • Maintains simple laboratory records and inventory for supplies and reagents.
  • Maintains laboratory equipment and supplies by cleaning and maintaining quality assurance records.
  • May assist with experiments using animals by restraining them for inoculation and anesthetization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
