About The Position

Northridge Hospital Medical Center invites a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our fast-paced Microbiology team as a Lab Assistant Tech. This role is crucial in upholding our laboratory's commitment to delivering precise and prompt diagnostic testing for our patients. The Lab Assistant Tech will be responsible for a variety of essential laboratory support functions, including:

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment, including microscopes, incubators, and autoclaves.
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and regulations.
• Fire Safety Card (CT Fire Card) must be obtained within 90 days required.

Nice To Haves

• Six (6) months of laboratory clerical and/or phlebotomy experience in an acute care facility
• CA Phlebotomy License

Responsibilities

• Accurately process all types of microbiology samples onto the appropriate culture media.
• Perform routine procedures such as plating, streaking, and inoculation.
• Assist with the preparation of reagents and media, and ensure the proper preparation and sterilization of laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Collect, process, and label patient samples following established protocols.
• Maintain thorough and accurate records and documentation for all laboratory activities.
• Clean and maintain laboratory work areas and equipment, strictly adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
