About The Position

The Laboratory Assistant II is responsible for serving and protecting patients by identify each patient, accurately collecting and processing patient samples, providing patient-centered care, and actively supporting patients and their families. Responsible for specimen receiving and stabilizing the samples, packaging send-outs, shipping, distribution of specimens within the laboratory, and clerical functions including, but not limited to, computer data entry, telephone reception, and other general lab functions.

Requirements

• Minimum one (1) year of recent department specimen processing experience or equivalent.
• High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong critical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills
• Be a team player
• Ability to operate lab equipment and proficient in specimen processing
• Strong attention to detail, vigilance, poise, and composure in stressful situations
• Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area

Nice To Haves

• Two (2) or more years of recent experience in the departments setting.
• Completion of some college level courses.
