About The Position

The Laboratory Assistant: Works within compliance and regulatory parameters while completing the receipt, registration, order entry and labeling of a large volumes of specimens in the appropriate computer system. Resolves specimen submission issues. Manages a large volume of telephone calls, filing and distribution of patient information. Maintains logs and scans documents into the electronic medical record. Operates and performs regular preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting on a variety of departmental instruments. May require the acquired knowledge of esoteric test requests by physicians and involve order entry and processing of these specimens including assisting with specimen handling at FNA and biopsy procedures. Ensures complete accuracy due to the direct impact on patient care. Works independently, organizing work to meet established deadlines.
