As valued team members, students are also encouraged to share and implement their own ideas, enhancing both their personal growth and the collective success of the team.Description:   The intern will assist the Non-Metals TX-56 group in establishing “best practice” guidelines for sample preparation, maintenance, and analysis results for various equipment (Scanning Electron Microscope, X-Ray, etc.). The intern will document the capabilities and limitations of the current equipment as well as research recommendations for future purchases.      The qualified international Intern should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:

Requirements

  • Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or similar degree.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Must be enrolled at a university outside of the United States.
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on the US grading scale.
  • Must have completed a prior BMW internship of at least 3 months in length.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours/week).
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
  • Must provide the following paperwork in English.
  • Curriculum Vitae/Resume.
  • Last University Performance Record.
  • Cover letter (not required).
  • Relevant references and certificates (not required).

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Non-Metals TX-56 group interview customers for analysis needs.
  • Perform sample preparation for future analysis.
  • Conduct analysis using lab equipment.
  • Document results, including recommendation based on conversation with the customer.
  • Research, evaluate, and document equipment capabilities, limitations, and costs.
  • Create “best practice” guidelines for sample preparation, maintenance topics, and analysis results based on current lab equipment.
  • Merging measurement analysis with non-destructive equipment results (X-Ray and CT Scan).
  • Providing long-term business case strategy for future replacement financial planning.
  • ADM (Laboratory report documenting system).
  • PQM (Problem Solving Quality Management system).
