This job is full-time permanent.  Domtar's Ashdown mill is currently seeking individuals to be placed into our Labor Pool and work a variety of positions in our production departments. This is an entry level hire, but successful candidates will possess the ability and desire to continuously train and promote to top operating positions. All positions are safety sensitive.HOURS: Must be willing to work rotating 12-hour shifts as required

Requirements

  • Must have scored at least a SILVER on the Career Readiness Certificate exam
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have at least two years of employment or post-secondary education (or combination) during the last four years.
  • Industrial manufacturing experience preferred with a strong aptitude for risk assessment and good mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Work any rotating shift including weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary.
  • Committed to following all safety policies and procedures to include wearing all personal protective equipment including hard hats, ear plugs, safety glasses, gloves, chemical suits, steel toe boots, etc.
  • Proven record of exceptional attendance and job performance.
  • Comfortable working at heights, using ladders, lifts, and working in confined spaces.
  • Safe operation of all powered industrial trucks including fork trucks, clamp trucks and scissor lifts.
  • Work in the indoor and outdoor conditions of heat, cold, noise, dust, and moisture.
  • Frequently lift up to 30 lbs; occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Must possess basic computer skills and read, write, and speak English.
  • Must present a photo ID and complete a detailed application in person when requested to do so.
  • Must successfully complete a selection process that includes aptitude tests, board panel interviews, employment background investigation, pre-employment drug and alcohol screen, and fitness-for-duty test. This is a safety sensitive position.

Responsibilities

  • Operate powered industrial trucks as required to include loading rail cars and over the road trucks.
  • Perform chemical unloading, movement and storage.
  • Clean pumps, tanks, refiners, and other large industrial equipment.
  • Walk catwalks, climb stairs, perform duties at heights and in confined spaces and operate a golf cart.
  • Complete daily housekeeping checklists and other duties as directed by supervision.
