About The Position

Support development and implementation of Safety & Ergonomics programs for the Detroit campus, both on shopfloor and in administrative areas. Assist and support the Sr. Safety Engineer in all aspects of safety. We provide a scheduled posting end date to assist our candidates with their application planning. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of related experience OR an associate’s degree with 4 years of related experience OR 6 years of related experience required in lieu of degree
  • Excellent Verbal & Written Communication skills at all levels
  • Demonstrates integrity, credibility, and confidentiality
  • Use of problem solving analysis tools
  • Conflict resolution

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of ergonomic principles
  • Safety Certifications recognized by NSC, ASSE, or ASCE

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical, administrative, & educational support for plant level safety in regards to policies, programs, practices, and initiatives as outlined.
  • Assist in updating plant policies, programs, and procedures related to employee safety and industrial hygiene and ensure compliance with Daimler and governmental agencies.
  • Conduct plant safety and health inspections and audits.
  • Identify areas for improvement and initiate corrective action.
  • Collaborate with the Training Center staff to develop and conduct trainings on required topics, including but not limited to, New Employee Orientation, new/existing/updated regulatory programs, (ex.: PIT, Crane & Hoists), Hazard Recognition, & the BEST system.
  • Maintain/Develop all daily/weekly plant level safety data charts and retention records.
  • Evaluate and review all new processes or equipment to ensure they meet Daimler Truck and Detroit Diesel safety specifications - this may require travel (something like that)
  • Assist team members with investigations, including but not limited to, root cause investigations on near misses/injuries, ergonomics job evaluations, and risk assessments.
  • Provide cross functional support for all levels in the organization.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by Safety Manager.
