About The Position

Works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, Charge Nurse, and the medical direction of the Labor and Delivery Physician. Responsible for providing assistance to physicians and RN in the delivery of patient care to include invasive and non-invasive procedures: EKG's, IVs, phlebotomy. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient served in assigned department. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Collects data reflective of the patient's status and assist with the interpretation of appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age specific needs as described in the departmental policy and procedural guide.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
1 year L&D Technician Experience (PRN Status Only) (Required)
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Advanced, Intermediate, or Paramedic ONLY Upon Hire(Required)
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Advanced, Intermediate, or Paramedic ONLY Upon Hire(Required)
Military Experience - US Military Equivalent military experience in lieu of EMT certification will be accepted (i.e., medical technician or corpsman) Upon Hire(Required)
CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 90 Days(Required)
Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) - American Academy of Pediatrics within 60 Days(Required)

Responsibilities

Demonstrates assessment ability by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served. ( i.e. surgical, med surg, critical care, ED, specialty unit).
Recognizes and responds to variances of patient care/ condition and appropriately notifies physician and team, utilizing SBAR process when applicable.
Accurately completes all required clinical documentation consistently per RHS standards.
Demonstrate flexibility and sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput throughout the facility.
