About The Position

The Labeling Supervisor oversees all activities related to product labeling and casing, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company standards. This role is responsible for maintaining adequate supply levels while minimizing inventory costs, supporting customer requests with professionalism, and coordinating new label designs across departments. The supervisor plays a key role in maintaining safety, quality, and operational excellence within the labeling function. · Orders labels based on production forecasts, historical usage, and inventory targets to ensure consistent availability. · Procures cartons, trays, glue, and other essential supplies—including tapes, rags, and CRC spray—to support uninterrupted labeling operations. · Receives incoming label shipments, verifies accuracy through sample checks, and ensures proper storage and handling. · Conducts monthly cycle counts of labels, cartons, and glues to maintain accurate and reliable inventory records. · Identifies potential equipment issues, communicates concerns to maintenance and/or leadership, and performs basic troubleshooting to support uninterrupted production operations. · Leads safety orientations and ongoing safety training for employees, reinforcing safe work practices and promptly correcting unsafe behaviors or conditions. · Identifies and prevents hazardous or unhealthy workplace conditions, and investigates workplace accidents to determine root causes and support corrective actions. · Collaborates with Purchasing and Marketing to coordinate new label designs, revisions, and approvals. · Responds to customer inquiries regarding label inventory, sample requests, and label shipments to external vendors. · Works closely with production teams to ensure labeling materials and processes align with production schedules and quality standards. · Supports continuous improvement efforts within labeling and casing operations to enhance efficiency and accuracy. · Creates and delivers training that clearly defines job responsibilities, expectations, and best practices. · Ensures compliance with company policies, quality expectations, and operational procedures. · Ensures proper administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and timely resolution of grievances. · Responsible for reviewing and approving timecard activity for all direct reports to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely payroll processing. · Performs additional duties as assigned by the Shift Superintendent and/or Operations Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Operations, Food Science, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in production, sanitation, or food manufacturing; supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of USDA regulations, sanitation standards, and food manufacturing best practices.
  • Familiarity with GMPs, HACCP principles, and food safety programs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to train, motivate, and guide employees in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to learn internal systems and production software.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions with limited information and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, off‑shifts, and extended hours based on business needs.
