Perform duties required to supervise and coordinate activities of shift workers engaged in the process of heat-treating metal products. Ensure that all production activities are conducted in a safe manner and drive the use of 5S practices in the production areas. Key Responsibilities: Supervise workers, to include training, assigning work, checking work, and documentation to ensure compliance with guidelines; analyze and assist employees with solving work problems; recommend personnel actions such as hiring, rate increases, promotions, and disciplinary measures. Assign, prioritize, and distribute daily work and shop orders to ensure efficient and productive workflow. Review shop floor at the start of each shift to ensure that all employees are present. Communicate with previous and next shift supervisors and other departments on matters pertaining to schedules, production, materials, methods, and issues affecting production. Communicate problems and status of operations to Plant Manager, Production Manager, and Maintenance personnel. Review and change production schedules based on daily "RUSH" priority received from customer service and/or sales, ensuring required productivity is maintained or exceeded. Monitor and improve productivity and the quality of production methods. Review and set up for reprocessing any rejects or reworks that are within the capability of the supervisor. Halt production processing upon discovery of non-conforming work and determine and document the cause. Document changes, suggestions, and reclaim processes in accordance with the Quality System. Maintain communication between Customer Service, Sales, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Production personnel, and the Plant Manager. Ensure training requirements are met by employees. Assist Plant Manager in improving energy consumption, i.e. shutting off equipment that is not needed. Maintain high standards for safety, productivity, security, and housekeeping (5S) through appropriate use of management techniques, hiring, suspension, and discipline in accordance with company policy, shop rules, regulations, and union agreement. Supervise the completion, organization, and maintenance of production records and files including: timecards, production records, shop cards, accident reports, furnace logs, and charts, etc. Promote team development and hold regular shift meetings to promote communication and discussion. Participate in and encourage teamwork with all Paulo office and plant personnel. Treat all Paulo equipment, instruments, and customer parts with care. Perform all duties consistent with safe practices, including wearing safety shoes, safety glasses, etc. Perform to specified quality standards and comply with all relevant product quality procedures and requirements. Understand and perform operations in accordance with the process master systems, shop order instructions, and customer requirements. Assure that service requirements are met and that customers are treated fairly and honestly. Work overtime as necessary to meet customer needs. Know and understand the employee handbook, company policy, and the union contract.
