About The Position

The Testing Services Lab Technologist is responsible for performing all laboratory activities necessary for virology and microbiology testing according to applicable regulations and cGLP including 9CFR, Eur. Ph., USPISO 9001 and ISO 17025. This includes, but is not limited to, handling of test articles, working with cell cultures, performance of Mycoplasma and sterility testing, and collaboration with Laboratory Manager and Study Director(s) to maintain high quality of testing. This position is responsible for preparing and reading FA slides, microbiological agar observations, reporting results, and becoming familiar with the different types of organisms (viral, bacterial, and fungal) used and detected by Testing Services. The Testing Services Technologist will be expected to be knowledgeable in all applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and maintain proficiency in following laboratory SOPs and performing assigned virology and microbiology assays including but not limited to:
  • Aseptic technique
  • Conduct of compendial testing including TA preparation, inoculation, and sub-culturing
  • Perform organism inoculation and other tasks in a BL2 laboratory
  • Produce media and other laboratory reagents
  • Establish cell and organism stocks, maintain cell lines, manage/generate microbiological working seeds
  • Assist in training of new personnel
  • Perform all regulatory testing
  • Participate in assay verifications and validations
  • Review and update SOP's
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
