About The Position

Weaver Consultants Group is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Soils Laboratory Technician to join their Granger team. No experience is necessary, as paid training is provided, and the company covers certification fees. The role offers opportunities for growth with additional incentives as certifications are earned. The technician will work under the guidance of experienced professionals to learn to safely perform a variety of tasks in concrete and soils laboratories.

Requirements

  • No experience required
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be willing to obtain and maintain laboratory certifications for soils
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Must have valid driver's license and insurance
  • Willing to obtain knowledge of CMT laboratory equipment, testing methods, and ASTM laboratory standards, leading to certifications in soils, concrete, or both
  • Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing)
  • Ability to work effectively with peers and supervisors

Responsibilities

  • Perform specific tasks associated with conducting laboratory testing on construction materials for various projects under the supervision of senior technicians and other lab staff
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests using various methodologies and testing equipment following industry standards and compliance
  • Assist with tasks to maintain laboratory organization and cleanliness in compliance with Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) initiatives to maintain accreditation compliance
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment following the manufacturer’s schedule and records
  • Notify supervisor of broken or missing equipment as needed
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests for soils including Atterberg limits, gradation analyses, swell testing, moisture content testing, unconfined compressive strength testing, standard and modified proctor testing
  • Begin learning how to visually classify soils
  • Perform calculations and data reduction based on test results
  • Demonstrate competency of testing methods by documenting results accurately
  • Perform administrative duties as requested
