About The Position

As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and compliance of materials used in our diverse infrastructure projects. You will perform a variety of tests on construction materials such as asphalt, concrete, soil, and aggregate, meticulously documenting results and collaborating with senior technicians and lab managers to maintain the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency. Requirements

  • Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; previous laboratory experience or related coursework is a plus. 
  • Technical Skills: Basic understanding of laboratory procedures and safety protocols; proficiency with computers and data entry; ability to learn and apply new testing methods. 
  • Key Skills: Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; commitment to safety and quality; positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Testing & Analysis: Conduct laboratory tests on construction materials (e.g., asphalt, concrete, soil, aggregate) according to established procedures; accurately record and analyze test data using Spectra QEST software and internal worksheets; maintain a clean and organized workspace. 
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with senior lab technicians to learn testing procedures and interpret results; collaborate with the lab manager and other technicians to address quality-related issues; effectively communicate findings through clear and concise reports. 
  • Operations & Improvement: Contribute to the efficiency of laboratory operations by identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices; report any equipment malfunctions or testing discrepancies to the lab manager; assist with sample preparation, equipment maintenance, and general lab organization. 
  • Professional Development: Actively learn and develop proficiency in all applicable testing procedures; pursue relevant certifications to enhance technical skills and knowledge; build relationships with Eastern Sierra Engineering staff to understand company culture and contribute to a positive work environment.
