Laboratory Analyst (Contract):. It is expected that successful candidates for this position will have a minimum of an Associates degree in Chemistry or 4 semesters course work in chemistry. Experience working in an Analytical / Quality Control Lab is a plus. Understands the importance of Health, Safety and Environment issues to the success of our organization. Accurately assesses the HS&E hazards of the job. Takes aggressive action to correct unsafe, unhealthy, or threatening environmental conditions or activities on the job, or in other aspects of life, in order to prevent accidents. Understands that success is determined by performance in this area. Develops, understands and follows procedures to assure this continuous improvement and does not have near misses, incidents, or accidents. Possess good communication skills for interaction with all chemical plant employees. Ability to receive verbal and written direction including plant safety rules, policies and procedures and implement without direct supervision. Environmental Conditions: Exposure to chemical plant manufacturing facilities. Must be able to distinguish emergency and other alarms and respond according to prescribe procedures. Hazards: Potential exposure to toxic, caustic and pyrophoric chemicals. Proximity to moving mechanical and mobile equipment. Minimum of 2 years laboratory experience in an industrial chemical plant or refinery Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Associate's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Technology preferred Position requires working a 12- hour shift. Current schedule is 5:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; weeks alternate between Mon./Wed./Thurs. and Tues./Fri./Sat./Sun. Successful applicants must be flexible and willing / able to provide overtime coverage when needed (including evenings and holidays) and work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule (days and nights) if needed to support business requirements.
