About The Position

Cancer Specialists of North Florida is recruiting for an experienced Lab Technician for our busy Northside Office. The Lab Technician is responsible for the collecting and processing of specimens from patients documenting results according to established procedures. This position assists with performing specimen analysis, instrument maintenance, and quality procedures as indicated while following quality assurance and safety policies and procedures. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: Collects viable and appropriate specimens from patients as ordered. Maintains proper documentation as described by the quality assurance program including accessioning logs, tests report logs, quality control logs, equipment records and checklists Performs specimen analysis of all chemistry, hematology, and immunology specimens as directed Ensures that specimen requirements are met at the time of collection and maintains specimen integrity Initials, dates, and times all collections as necessary. Processes, labels, and stores blood samples for subsequent analysis Prepares test order forms as necessary. Maintains adequate inventory of supplies and ensures that all supplies are viable before using in patient testing Assists with testing procedures according to procedure guidelines; sends specimens to reference laboratories for any testing not performed in house Processes incoming orders for lab testing; processes in-house and in-coming results for charging; charts patient results in a timely manner Assists in training of new lab technicians Update and file all daily paperwork, lab logs and maintenance logs Arranges for transfusion of blood products when ordered by physicians All other duties as assigned. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of three years’ experience in a laboratory

Responsibilities

Collects viable and appropriate specimens from patients as ordered.
Maintains proper documentation as described by the quality assurance program including accessioning logs, tests report logs, quality control logs, equipment records and checklists
Performs specimen analysis of all chemistry, hematology, and immunology specimens as directed
Ensures that specimen requirements are met at the time of collection and maintains specimen integrity
Initials, dates, and times all collections as necessary.
Processes, labels, and stores blood samples for subsequent analysis
Prepares test order forms as necessary.
