LABORATORY DUTIES Reports to: Laboratory Manager Position: PRN, Non-Exempt This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned by manager. o Pre-analytic: Collect and prepare patient specimens (blood, body fluids, tissues) according to protocols. Confirm proper labeling, quantity, and type of samples. Prepare necessary reagents and calibrate lab equipment. Maintain sample integrity through correct handling and storage. o Analytic Perform scientific and diagnostic testing on samples using standardized procedures and lab equipment such as microscopes, cell counters, and automated analyzers. Analyze results for accuracy, repeat tests if needed, and monitor test systems for acceptable performance levels. Apply quality control checks, document calibrations, and correct any deviations or errors found during testing. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment or procedure issues that impact test outcome Experience with major analyzers such as Ortho Vitros 5600, Sysmex XN-550, CA-660 is an advantage. o Post-analytic Review and verify test results, ensuring accuracy before releasing to physicians or healthcare providers. Record and log results clearly and maintain confidentiality. Report critical or STAT results promptly as per policy. Maintain complete and accurate records for quality assurance, auditing, and regulatory compliance. · Continuous Responsibilities Across All Phases o Follow safety, regulatory (CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA), and ethical standards at every step. o Participate in proficiency testing, quality assurance, and training sessions. o Maintain a clean and organized work environment and perform regular equipment maintenance. o Engage in ongoing education, staff meetings, and review of new laboratory procedure.
