About The Position

This Lab Tech 2 position is located in the Inpatient Lab Department, working a day shift on a 7-on/7-off schedule from 4:30 am to 2:30 pm. The role primarily involves receiving and/or processing specimens, performing clerical checks and support functions, and may also include phlebotomy.

Requirements

Must have at least 2 years of inpatient phlebotomy and specimen processing experience
Phlebotomy skill for all age groups.
Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions.
Skill in the use of computers and related software applications.
Knowledge of safety and infection control standards.
Ability to work in a team environment.
H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent

Responsibilities

Conducts routine laboratory procedures where the range of possible errors is limited.
Sorts, labels and records patient specimens.
Set up specimen, material and equipment in preparation for Medical Technologist to perform test.
Operates centrifuge, simplex timers, cell washer and other Laboratory equipment in completing assigned duties.
Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies.
Maintains effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.
