Performs veni-puncture in keeping with standard protocol on patients to obtain blood for requested analysis. Interviews, screens, and performs sterile veni-puncture in keeping with standard protocol to obtain 500 ML whole blood for use in the blood bank. Prepares laboratory specimens such as blood, urine, stool, and sputum for diagnostic evaluation. Prepares feces and other materials for examination for the presence of ova and parasites. Prepares, embeds, cuts, stains, mounts, labels, and catalogues tissue sections. Prepares, stains cover slips, and catalogues cytology specimens. Prepares reagents, soils, and plant and animal tissues for analysis to identify pH, lime, organic matter, minor elements, soluble salts, etc. Operates pH meters, salt bridges, balances and colorimeters, calibrating as necessary. Performs microscopic examination, records, and reports test results.
