Join our team and discover why we are a top veteran employer and Certified Great Place to Work™ ASRC Federal Advanced Research LLC is seeking a Lab/System Administration Student Trainee/Intern to join our National Airspace System (NAS) Enterprise Services Infrastructure Team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This is an on-site internship position (part time during the school year (min 20 hours; max 32 hours) and full time during the summer). The NAS Enterprise Services Infrastructure supports numerous virtual machine platforms that host multiple internal software systems. This is an exciting opportunity for an intern to support system maintenance, integration, and installation of multiple complex computer systems for NAS. Citizenship/Permanent Residency Requirement All candidates must have the following to pass the Federal Background Investigation and obtain the FAA Public Trust security clearance. Be a US Citizen, have a US Green Card, or a Non-immigrant Work Authorization (VISA). Has resided in the US for three (3) consecutive years. RealID Driver’s License/ID or current US Passport. The company is unable to sponsor candidates at this time. Relocation Requirement Candidate must reside or be willing to relocate within a commutable distance to Egg Harbor Township, NJ. Education Requirement High School Diploma and 48 hours of coursework in computer science, information systems, or technical field. A copy of the student’s transcript is required.

Requirements

  • College coursework related to: Coding in any scripting or object-oriented languages.
  • Information Systems
  • Excellent verbal, written, and customer relations skills.
  • Strong interpersonal/team working skills.
  • Self-motivated in learning and researching products.
  • Detailed oriented.
  • Takes initiative.
  • Be a US Citizen, have a US Green Card, or a Non-immigrant Work Authorization (VISA).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge/experience in: Windows, Virtual Machines, Linux/Unix, and command line environments.
  • Regular expressions.
  • Configuring Cisco/Firewall/Load Balancers
  • Active Directory integrations
  • Versioning tools, such as Git or SVN.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 2nd Level Engineering support for deployment and emergency field issues.
  • Upgrade, maintain, and manage multiple enterprise systems simultaneously: VMware, Redhat products or COTS products (Active directory, Cisco, hardware, ELK clients, backup applications, etc.)
  • Maintain complex applications in Linux environment (VMs or containers/Kubernetes).
  • System automation using Ansible, Perl, Bash, PowerShell, Windows servers, etc.
  • CI/CD, DevOps, GitLab, system workflow planning.
  • Enterprise Monitoring.
  • Infrastructure and system design.
  • Work collaboratively or independently on assigned projects to meet multiple deadlines and deliverables.
