Because there’s too much at stake to go solo. Our Engineering Team is seeking an onsite Lab Support Technician. You would be responsible for supporting rework efforts with engineers, removing and installing SMT components, and responding to prototyping and other custom fabrication needs while delivering clean, consistent, and reliable results. Your work will directly enhance product performance and customer satisfaction. Requirements

  • At least five (5) years overall experience of applicable technician experience.
  • Advanced or Specialist-level skills in: Electricity and electronics.
  • Advanced or Specialist-level skills in: Soldering techniques.
  • Advanced or Specialist-level skills in: Fine-pitch CCA and SMT rework.
  • Advanced or Specialist-level skills in: Troubleshooting of complex electrical and mechanical engineering systems down to the component level.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and patience in working with small, meticulous and complex components.
  • Experience with solder re-flow processes and equipment.
  • Demonstrates technical documentation skills and proficiency with PC office applications.
  • Demonstrates ability to translate technical jargon into layman’s terms for explanatory purposes.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Willingness to seek out additional input and clarification when provided with incomplete or ambiguous instructions.
  • Exhibits solid customer service and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Priority will be given to candidates with current IPC certifications (J-STD-001 and/or 7711-7721 preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Performs fabrications, alterations and other technical work on electronic and mechanical components as requested.
  • Repairs and modifies electronic and mechanical assemblies as requested.
  • Removes, installs and reflows a variety of BGA components.
  • Removes, replaces, and installs SMT components as small as 0201.
  • Remains available and responds rapidly to support programs with various last-minute items such as fixing prototypes, last minute assembly corrections, component testing, etc.
  • Makes changes to hardware boards, including cutting traces, changing parts, and running fine wiring, to improve operative performance or allow for testing.
  • Assists with troubleshooting and debugging of electronic components.
  • Provides suggestions for ways to improve product design and implementation approaches for electronic and mechanical components.
  • Ensures that all safety procedures are observed during lab work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Develops relationships with team members built on trust and respect.
