About The Position

Lab Support Manager - Indianapolis, IN, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Effectively manage anatomical pathology support and successfully integrate all divisions into the department. Pay range: $72,950+ per year Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation. Requirements

  • At least seven years experience as Office Manager or Manager of a support environment.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to organize and coordinate a variety of diverse activities
  • Adequate and appropriate management skills, including effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must demonstrate decision making and independent action required regarding administrative matters.
  • Work and communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds at various levels of education, experience, and management.
  • Manage large volumes of work and effectively organize workflow.
  • Manage stress caused by multiple demands.
  • Flexible and adaptive to change.
  • Recognize errors and problems and know how/when to take corrective action or consult with higher management.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Determine and justify staffing needs based on workload and volume.
  • Work with personnel department to hire, coach and counsel employees.
  • Initiate disciplinary action with appropriate documentation when necessary.
  • Review and approve performance evaluations of staff.
  • Recommend merit increases for each employee based on performance.
  • Work with departmental staff to plan and implement in-house training and continuing education.
  • Responsible for evaluation of workflow and volume and adjust work shifts or assignments to meet departmental needs.
  • Work with Senior Transcriptionist staff to ensure prompt turn around time of surgical and cytology reports.
  • Work with supervisory staff to establish, monitor and maintain equipment quality standards.
  • Performance and maintenance, development and implementing procedures, and monitoring Q.C. data.
  • Review and sign all departmental purchase orders.
  • Assess need, volume, pricing, etc., of all purchase order items.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and justify purchase of capital equipment.
  • Work with facilities department to provide service contracts for essential equipment and to ensure that faulty equipment is restored to service in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for providing and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
  • Enforce attendance by employees at safety training sessions.
  • Require that all safety incidents be properly documented and provide appropriate follow up.
  • Ensure the availability of MSDS for all chemicals in use in the department and that employees understand their use.
  • Research and resolve inquiries or complaints.
  • Provide leadership and serve as a resource for resolution or all administrative issues relating to the Anatomical Pathology Department.
  • Serve in an advisory capacity on various committees or task forces within the company as requested or required.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned by management.
