About The Position

Calix supports the skyrocketing demand for broadband and managed services by offering world class cloud and software platforms which enable BSPs to simplify their operations, excite their subscribers and grow their value. Calix Global Labs is seeking a highly skilled, organized and motivated Lab Technician to join our Plano, TX based team in supporting our Broadband Networking Infrastructure. The candidate will join an experienced team of individuals working onsite in a fast-paced Data Center based Lab Environment. This position will work closely with Lab Management, System Administrators, Network Engineers, Test Engineers, and Lab Technicians while also having the opportunity to interact with Calix internal customers and other resources around the world. This role requires the candidate to be onsite full-time in Plano, TX. Local candidates will be given priority. Responsibilities: Provide hands-on support in a Data Center based Telecom equipment lab for large-scale enterprise networks and systems from L1-L3. As assigned by Manager or through Jira ticketing system, ensure the timely installation, powering and cabling a multitude of telecommunications equipment including PON’s, servers, routers and traffic generators used in development and testing. Cabling network elements, either directly, or through patch panels, with neat, organized, and professional aesthetics. Troubleshooting and configurations of fiber and copper based Telecommunications and Datacommunications products and devices through multiple release cycles. Maintain infrastructure by updating, modifying existing systems and documenting details, verifying connections, and tracking all changes within the infrastructure systems. Work closely with fiber and copper based networking gear, monitor and modify connections, check interfaces and create basic configurations. Work in close collaboration with other Technicians, Engineers, Software Developers and Management ensuring adequate and timely support for Calix product development and release cycles to meet or exceed project schedules and testing objectives. Communicate (in writing and verbally) with team members and management professionally in the lab and with Calix’s many remote teams and customers throughout the world. Develop a strong understanding of Calix products and the lab’s automation infrastructure. Grow skillsets in technical areas to compliment lab operations. Qualifications: Competency in electrical, mechanical and networking fundamentals. 2 – 5 years of background and experience in setting up, installing, configuring and troubleshooting fiber optic / ethernet based networking accessories such as routers, switches, SFPs, etc. from L1 – L3. Knowledge and / or certification in DC powering to include safety requirements, grounding principals, wiring, experience with -48V rectifiers and DC busways in a controlled environment. Technical knowledge in Cabling, Facilities Maintenance and Systems Management. Mechanically inclined and proficient with hand and power tools use and safety practices. Experience with Asset Management, RFID tagging, and Jira Ticketing System is desirable. Team Player with strong focus on Customer Service. Attention to detail and processes in all workmanship, installation, cabling runs, labeling, etc. Competency in MS Word and MS Excel. Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills. Must have troubleshooting experience. Excellent technical communication skills in English, in both verbal and written communications Display Strong Work Ethic, Discipline and Professionalism. Responsible for maintaining lab space in clean well-ordered condition, prevention of all lab safety hazards, and maintenance of ESD related equipment. A Technical Certificate or 2-year AS equivalent as an Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical technician is desired. Availability and flexibility to work late or overnight shifts is highly desirable.

Requirements
