The Wright Group in the Departments of Biology and Chemistry & Biochemistry at Baylor University is seeking a Lab Manager. The Wright Group is focused on phenotype-driven studies of gut and oral microbiomes. The group has more than 30 interdisciplinary undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers, thus creating a complex and dynamic research setting that spans microbiome sciences, chemical biology and organic chemistry, and mass spectrometry-based omics sciences. The research laboratory manager plays a vital role in ensuring efficient and successful outcomes in the Wright Group. We are seeking a highly motivated Research Laboratory Manager to join our team. This dual-role position combines laboratory management with research. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our scientific laboratory, which includes managing the inventory and procurement of all lab chemicals and supplies, maintaining equipment, ensuring safety protocols are followed, maintain compliance with Baylor research expectations, and coordinating research projects. You will also supervise our undergraduate and graduate researchers, provide training in lab techniques and lab safety, and onboard new researchers in the group. In addition to these managerial duties, you'll contribute to our ongoing research by performing research, particularly with external collaborators. Depending on the level of research experience of the successful applicant, you may also take the lead on data analysis, publications, and share in grant writing. The breakdown of responsibilities will be approximately 50% lab management and operations, 25% training and personnel management, and 25% research.
