Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent required.
Demonstrated experience working with food (preparation, presentation, testing).
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work independently, with little guidance
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proactive thinker and problem solver
Computer proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint, etc.

Nice To Haves

Associates or Bachelors in Food Science, or similar, preferred.

Responsibilities

Responsible for sample management, including receiving, storing and tracking of samples shipped to the lab.
Ensure and verify paperwork is accurate and matches samples received.
Prepare samples and test forms for product cuttings (blind sensory testing) to include cooking/baking product samples.
Conduct the weekly shopping at local Meijer stores for the products being evaluated.
Manage the calendar and scheduling of all testing being conducted and/or meetings requested at the facility, including coordinating with the Merchant Teams and vendors on use of the facility.
Maintain testing equipment to ensure equipment is calibrated and cleaned on a regular basis.
Order reagents/chemicals for test equipment as needed.
Maintain the test kitchen (including appliances, cookware, dinnerware and utensils), coolers and freezers to ensure areas are regularly cleaned and organized.
Support other projects, as assigned.
Ensure Own Brand product data is accurately entered into the appropriate database, including but not limited to current specifications and facility audits.
Set up and conduct basic first production tests (weight, MAV, compliance requirements, etc.)
