About The Position

This position functions as a central hub for Laboratory Billing. It serves as a touch point for Revenue Integrity, Beaker IT, Compliance, and Revenue Cycle. This position will oversee all lab billing operations functions, which includes auditing the current billing processes, staying up-to-date on laboratory billing best practices and reviewing daily work queues. Responsibilities include leading, planning and coordinating the billing operations for laboratory services across the hospital system, designing, implementing and enforcing policies and procedures, as well as streamlining effective billing processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a business-related field (e.g., Business, Management, Finance, Accounting) or Bachelors degree in Medical Technology required.
  • Three to five years post baccalaureate experience, preferably in a hospital/healthcare environment.
  • Must be able to work independently, but also within small teams from other departments to plan and coordinate charging and billing activities.
  • Must be comfortable using multiple computer systems/applications, able to perform large quantities of data entry quickly and accurately and possess the ability to quickly learn and recall a variety of billing processes.
  • Employees in this position: Will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a non-frequent driver
  • NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or University of Florida Health automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.

Nice To Haves

  • Ideal candidate will possess MBA/MHA Degree or will be enrolled in a MBA/MHA Degree program.
  • EPIC and Beaker trained, and Six Sigma yellow/green belt preferred.
  • Knowledge of CPT-4, ICD-10 coding, CCI edits and modifiers is preferred.
  • Previous lab specific charging and billing experience preferred.
  • General knowledge of laboratory accessioning and specimen collection procedures is strongly desired.
