Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and less than 1 year of relevant experience required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs activities associated with care and propagation of any animal colony involving one or more species.
  • Provides complete husbandry care of laboratory animals.
  • Ensures all standards and conditions, pertinent to proper health care and maintenance of animals assigned, are met.
  • Assists with tasks such as administering drugs, clipping, and weighing by holding animals.
  • Provides complete husbandry care of one or more species of laboratory animals.
  • Ensures all standards and conditions, pertinent to proper health care and maintenance of animals assigned, are met.
  • Assists by holding animals for such tasks as administering drugs, clipping, weighing, etc.
  • Observes animals, reports instances of abnormal behavior, vermin infestations, temperature changes, and other conditions affecting the well-being of animals assigned.
  • Inventories food and bedding materials.
  • Assists in maintaining related records and preparing periodic reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
