About The Position

INEOS is a global manufacturer of petrochemicals, specialty chemicals and oil products, comprising 29 businesses with a production network spanning 154 sites in 27 countries. The INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA business is a major participant in the North American chemical industry, with an annual manufacturing capacity of 9.6 billion pounds of petrochemicals. Manufacturing sites include Chocolate Bayou Works, Battleground Manufacturing Complex (BMC), and Carson, with a corporate office in League City, TX. The 300-acre INEOS Battleground Manufacturing Complex (BMC) in La Porte, TX, produces high-density polyethylene and polypropylene and features a state-of-the-art technical center for research and development, technical services, and quality assurance. The Lab Analyst role reports to the Shift Team Leader and is part of the site Technology Group. This position is responsible for using Standard Analytical Methods to provide prompt and accurate testing of flake and pellets for conformance to quality specifications, for operational process control, to fulfill special customer requirements, or in support of troubleshooting or improvement projects.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years lab or operations experience in a chemical plant, refinery, or gas processing plant OR have successfully completed a 2-year Associate Degree in Chemical or Process Technology.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, rotating between days and nights with some overtime required.
  • Understanding of general laboratory analytical techniques & practices.
  • Certifying and functioning as an Emergency Care Attendant.
  • Ability to pick up a 50 lb. objects such as polymer samples or a fire extinguisher.
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods while performing job tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety/PPE rules and actively promote safety issues such as behavior based safety, safety audits, safety committee meetings, safety improvement reports, job safety analysis, safety inspections, etc.
  • Directly responsible for understanding, promoting and upholding the INEOS 20 Principles.
  • Directly responsible for understanding and following INEOS Group Life Saving Rules.
  • Directly responsible for understanding and completing all regular Cybersecurity training and awareness campaigns.
  • Perform routine testing to determine product quality status as specified by the product specification system.
  • Perform routine testing to support unit production or process control as specified by the inline testing schedules or requests from the manufacturing units.
  • Perform routine testing to assist with work overflow from the Analytical/Product Development Laboratory as resources permit.
  • Accurately input all data into LIMS system and record test results in a legible manner on designated forms.
  • Analyze monitor samples and keep equipment monitor records in accordance with the monitor policy.
  • Proactively and continuously clean the laboratory and equipment to display and maintain the housekeeping standards necessary for a world-class organization.
  • Follow the rules of statistical process control (SPC) on laboratory test results to assure the measurement system is in statistical control.
  • Certifying and functioning as an Emergency Care Attendant is a requirement for this position.
  • Actively promote quality goals and demonstrate attention to quality in job performance.
  • Check operation of testing equipment, troubleshoot equipment to identify and/or correct source of problem, perform required routine preventative maintenance, and notify the shift team leader of any abnormalities or maintenance requirements.
  • Initiate documentation in accordance with equipment maintenance policy.
  • Schedule work to meet priorities.
  • Conduct job tasks in a professional manner utilizing good housekeeping practices and laboratory technique.
  • Participate as required on quality excellence teams or quality work teams to improve the current systems.
  • Work as part of the laboratory team to accomplish organization goals.
  • Follow and support the INEOS Mission, Values, Philosophies and Quality statements.
  • Improved and consistent housekeeping practices on shift to meet Asset Care expectations.
