Location: Rye Brook, NY Shift: Day Shift; Monday - Friday Full-time: Benefit Eligible HOURLY RATE: $17.50 - $25.00/hr In this role, you will: Under the general direction and supervision of Senior Grossing Laboratory personnel, the Grossing Laboratory Aide will effectively apply a “general” working knowledge and skill of designated Laboratory Aide related duties and tasks, in support of the Grossing Department as a whole, in completing the daily assigned workload.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Thorough working knowledge and understanding of computers, laboratory function, operating procedures and safety protocols.
  • Must be team oriented and possess above average interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable, flexible and adaptable in all aspects of work.
  • Able to maintain cooperative working relationships with peers and management.
  • Able to type 45 WPM or greater with minimal errors.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of practical laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, verifies, logs, and collects patient requisitions and specimens for technical testing.
  • Opens and inspects all specimens to assure an accurate specimen count.
  • Verifies patient requisitions for completeness of patient, client, and insurance information.
  • Prepares and sorts patient requisitions, and identifies and interprets data to be entered into the information system.
  • Follows proper procedures with specimen rejection, if patient, client, and insurance information is submitted incorrectly on source.
  • Enters alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic data from patient requisitions, face sheets, or photocopy of patients’ insurance card, into the information system following format displayed on screen.
