About The Position

The DAF Cw Edge team is looking for a development and sustainment engineer that can help the team improve the ODIN at the Edge product in terms of functionality, automation, and efficiency. There is also a need for a Field engineer to assist in deploying to mission-partner sites and support pre-existing deployments. The team is geographically dispersed so online coordination and collaboration is required regardless of location.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent.
  • DoD 8570 IAT 2 (Security+ or CISSP)
  • Minimum of 7 yrs experience in a Software/System Engineer role.
  • Proficiency in administering Linux/RHEL systems.
  • Experience with VMWare virtualization technologies including vSphere and ESXi.
  • Knowledge and experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services, specifically EC2 and S3.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Scrum practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Ansible for Configuration Management and automation.
  • Proficiency in using Terraform for infrastructure as code.
  • Familiarity with K9s, a terminal-based UI for managing Kubernetes clusters.
  • Strong knowledge of Git for version control and collaboration.
  • Experience with Jira for issue tracking and Confluence for documentation and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Installing and configuring virtual machines (VMs) or EC2 instances on the on-premises devices (such as AWS Outpost, Dell Tracewell, or PowerEdge devices).
  • Using Ansible and Terraform automation scripts to configure the deployed VMs. This includes setting up the necessary infrastructure and environment for the ODIN services.
  • Deploying Platform1's Big Bang containers into a Kubernetes cluster. This can be done using either Helm or ArgoCD, depending on the specific requirements and preferences of the deployment.
  • Installing additional hardware devices (AWS Outpost, Dell Tracewell, or PowerEdge) at the operational site. This involves physically setting up the devices and ensuring they are properly connected and powered.
  • Installing a scaled-down version of DAF Cw Managed Services, PaaS, and IaaS on the deployed hardware. This ensures that the on-premises devices have the necessary services to support operational missions.
  • Configuring the environment to handle denied, disrupted, intermittent, and limited impact or low-bandwidth (DDIL) conditions, ensuring that the ODIN services remain operational under challenging network conditions.
  • Continuously monitoring the deployment to ensure everything runs smoothly and performing maintenance tasks as needed to keep the system operational.
