Kubernetes Development / Field Engineer

CACI InternationalHampton, VA

About The Position

The Opportunity: The DAF Cw Edge team is looking for a development and sustainment engineer that can help the team improve the ODIN at the Edge product in terms of functionality, automation, and efficiency. There is also a need for a Field engineer to assist in deploying to mission-partner sites and support pre-existing deployments. The team is geographically dispersed so online coordination and collaboration is required regardless of location. Responsibilities: Installing and configuring virtual machines (VMs) or EC2 instances on the on-premises devices (such as AWS Outpost, Dell Tracewell, or PowerEdge devices). Using Ansible and Terraform automation scripts to configure the deployed VMs. This includes setting up the necessary infrastructure and environment for the ODIN services. Deploying Platform1's Big Bang containers into a Kubernetes cluster. This can be done using either Helm or ArgoCD, depending on the specific requirements and preferences of the deployment. Installing additional hardware devices (AWS Outpost, Dell Tracewell, or PowerEdge) at the operational site. This involves physically setting up the devices and ensuring they are properly connected and powered. Installing a scaled-down version of DAF Cw Managed Services, PaaS, and IaaS on the deployed hardware. This ensures that the on-premises devices have the necessary services to support operational missions. Configuring the environment to handle denied, disrupted, intermittent, and limited impact or low-bandwidth (DDIL) conditions, ensuring that the ODIN services remain operational under challenging network conditions. Continuously monitoring the deployment to ensure everything runs smoothly and performing maintenance tasks as needed to keep the system operational.
