About The Position

The Kitchen Porter maintains a clean and sanitary stock of dishes and utensils, washes and sanitizes all pots, pans, and utensils and stores them in appropriate areas. Removing refuse, recycle, and compostable materials is also performed throughout the day and at the end of the shift. In addition, this position frequently wipes down counters, racks and coolers, and sweeps and mops areas in the kitchen. This is a full-time, benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $18.81 - $23.04 per hour. Shift differential is available for eligible shifts and can amount to a higher wage per hour. Weekend differential: An additional $1.00/hour Evening differential: An additional $1.50/hour

Requirements

  • No formal education is required.
  • General knowledge of safety/sanitary aspects of food service areas and machine operation preferred.
  • No previous experience is required.
  • Must be physically able to lift 25 lbs. numerous times during the day and up to 50 lbs above the waist level on occasions.
  • Must be able to lift, as well as push and pull, up to 150 lbs. frequently.
  • This job requires frequent and repetitive bending, twisting, and overhead reaching.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and work in hot and humid conditions.
  • An offer for this position is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check and references.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the dish machine and the three compartment sink for the days use.
  • Records dish machine temps on a daily basis and reports anomalies to manager / supervisor.
  • Scrape, spray and stack soiled dishes before they are machine washed.
  • Unload and stack dishes, glassware, silverware and service utensils to dry and then distributes them to their storage area for service.
  • Scrape, spray and stack soiled pots, pans and utensils to hand wash them, allow to air dry and then distributes them to their storage area for use.
  • Thoroughly breaks down and cleans dish machine and pulpers at the end of each shift.
  • Collect and remove waste materials sorted by intended destination like landfill, recycle or compost throughout the day and at the end of the shift.
  • Sweep and mop areas in the kitchen that need attention, particularly in the dish and pot room.
  • May be asked to clean counters, racks and cooler as well as refuse containers.
  • Provide training for new staff members in proper safety and sanitation procedures and in the operation of dishroom equipment such as dish machine, carts, etc.
