This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: The Hills, set outside of East Quogue, New York. The Hills is seeking a seasonal Kitchen Porter to join the Culinary Department. This position will be available from April 20 to October 12, 2026. The Kitchen Porter will be responsible to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen and foodservice areas. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees. Key Responsibilities Work with all culinary and F&B leaders to create exemplary culinary standards and an environment of continual improvement. Always keeps all food preparation areas meticulously clean and tidy. Maintains safe and sanitary conditions in all food service areas and for all food service equipment. Provides courteous and professional service as well as proper care, movement, storage of all kitchen related equipment. Demonstrates full working COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) knowledge and adheres to all safety measures in the use of any cleaning materials required to operate. Ensures all kitchens are well maintained and cleaned prior to and/or after each daily operation including swift and hygienic garbage removal controls. Assists with inventory control of catering equipment and plateware. Demonstrates full knowledge of cleaning products and keep these areas properly stocked and cleaned. Controls any linen usage across kitchens, removing soiled items for laundry and refreshing stocks with new inventory as needed. Assists culinary staff when needed and performs side work and other cleaning and organizing as required. Communicates with supervisor verbally and through written communication throughout the shift to ensure proper notification and follow through of assigned tasks. Provides prompt, courteous service to culinary and F&B team members while maintaining a friendly and pleasant atmosphere. Safely drive and maintain vehicles available for transporting catering materials. Ensures all kitchen areas are well-maintained and cleaned prior to and/or after an event. Also assists with inventory control of cleaning equipment. Communicates with supervisor verbally and through written communication throughout the shift to ensure proper notification and follow through of assigned tasks. Maintains safe and sanitary conditions in all foodservice areas and for all service equipment. Demonstrates full knowledge of kitchen areas properly stocked and cleaned. Assists other banquet staff when needed and performs side work and other cleaning and organizing. Properly use and dispose of chemicals when conducting area cleaning. Conduct bio-hazard clean-up.
