About The Position

HELP USA is seeking a Kitchen Helper to join the food services team at one of their transitional, shelter housing sites. Reporting to the Food Services Supervisor, this role is responsible for assisting with food preparation, food service, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness. The Kitchen Helper will also be tasked with keeping daily meal count records and accurate inventory records. Additionally, in the absence of the Food Services Supervisor, the Kitchen Helper will assume the role of cook. HELP USA is a large non-profit organization dedicated to providing homeless services and developing low-income housing for various at-risk populations, including families, individuals, veterans, survivors of domestic violence, and those with health challenges and disabilities. With an annual operating budget of nearly $150 million and 1400 employees across almost 60 programs, HELP USA has assisted over 500,000 people facing homelessness and poverty.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent OR equivalent experience and skills
• Previous related experience in food service
• Ability to read and write in English
• Ability to keep a simple inventory of supplies on hand and needed
• Food Handlers License required
