About The Position

The Kitchen Coordinator manages all kitchen teams and ensures procedures for cooking are followed.

• As a staff of Brooklyn Adult & Teen Challenge, you are an important member of the ministry team. Because of the nature of this position and ministry, it is an absolute necessity that you possess and maintain a testimony that is above reproach. What you do on your own time may seriously affect your ability to perform in this position.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all meals in a timely and efficient manner.
• Assist program staff in supervising the men during meals.
• Effectively lead students who are working in the kitchen.
• Procure and receive weekly donations for the Men’s Program from companies and partners.
• Organize picking up food donations.
• Maintain paperwork for City Harvest and other ministry partners.
• Prepare weekly kitchen menu.
• Make sure the kitchen is up to date with inspection and all equipment is functioning properly.
• Update log sheets and temperature logs for refrigerators and freezers.
• Oversee food shopping for the Men’s Program.
• Maintain inventory of all food, cooking supplies, and equipment.
• Oversee hospitality for special meetings.
• Prepare food for all large events (US Open Tennis, PGA, Camp Champion, etc.)
• Make sure snacks are prepared for distribution.
• Plan and prepare for holiday means and special occasions.
• Oversee pantry and food storage administration and rotation.
• Strictly follow all Serve Safe, NYC Dept of Health guidelines standards and procedures
• Prepare food and coffee for Friday Night Outreach.
• Oversee the Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry.
• Be willing to assist and serve in any program event or function as needed.
