About The Position

Requirements

  • High school or vocational coursework in kitchen basics (food safety preferred).
  • At least 1 year of related cooking or kitchen experience.
  • Background checks and drug screening required; valid driver’s license and ability to meet vehicle insurance requirements per BHS policy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Basic knowledge of sanitation and workplace safety; ability to learn local health regulations.
  • Strong food handling, preparation, and cooking skills.
  • Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and accurately under pressure.
  • Team player with reliable attendance and the ability to collaborate in a warm, supportive environment.
  • Personal cleanliness and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to kneel, stand, lift (up to 40 lbs occasionally; up to 10 lbs frequently), reach, bend, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Good vision (near, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception) and hearing.
  • Able to perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodations if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Chop, clean, and cook meat, fish, and poultry to safe temperatures; prepare meals with care and attention to dietary or nutritional needs.
  • Bake breads, rolls, and pastries that bring smiles to our residents’ faces.
  • Prep and cook a variety of items per menu and portion sizes; accommodate special dietary requests.
  • Portion and serve meals to residents, guests, employees, and visitors with warmth and efficiency.
  • Wash and maintain cookware, utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment.
  • Assist in planning meals, menus, and pricing in collaboration with the team.
  • Ensure galley equipment, appliances, and work areas are clean, functional, and well-maintained.
  • Support other related duties as assigned with a positive, can-do attitude.
