About The Position

St. Charles Preparatory School Kitchen Assistant Full-time: 11am to 7:30pm St. Charles Preparatory School, located at 2010 E. Broad Street in Columbus, is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to help in their cafeteria. JOB SUMMARY The Kitchen Assistant serves kitchen food; maintains kitchen and dining area in a clean and safe working environment for all students, faculty and staff by personally performing the following essential job responsibilities. The position is expected to use personal judgement in carrying out routine duties and responsibilities at St. Charles Preparatory School. This job description reflects management’s assignment of essential job responsibilities; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned. All duties and standards within this job description will be performed according to the established policies, procedures and guidelines outlined in the school policy and procedures manuals.

Requirements

  • Compliance with BCI&I background checks and completion of Protecting God’s Children program.
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate is required.
  • This position requires frequent movement about the kitchen to complete the essential job responsibilities as outlined above.
  • Ability to be a team player and have harmonious relationship skills when dealing with co-workers and students.
  • Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior food service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with ordering food and other departmental supplies to assure the order is received in a timely manner so that adequate inventory levels are maintained to support volume or anticipated volume.
  • Provide services to students, faculty and staff in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Serve food that is the correct serving temperature and quality – any substandard quality food must be brought to the attention of the Kitchen Manager and properly discarded.
  • Cleans kitchen including serving area before and after serving hours and continually during serving hours.
  • Maintain appearance of all equipment and serving counters.
  • Assist manager with projects as needed
  • Regular attendance and punctuality is essential for this job.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local safety laws.
  • Maintains a neat and safe work area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
