About The Position

The Spring is seeking a motivated and dependable Kitchen Assistant for weekdays from 10am to 6pm. The Spring is a faith-based service provider, shelter, and advocacy organization for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking.
The Kitchen Assistant prepares and serves preplanned meals, maintains a clean and sanitary environment, and ensures a welcoming, respectful space for guests. This role assists with food preparation, cooking, serving, labeling, and storing meals according to established menus and food safety guidelines.

Requirements

• high school diploma or equivalent
• at least one year of experience in a commercial kitchen or food service environment
• ability to stand for extended periods
• lift up to 40 pounds
• communicate effectively and professionally
• demonstrate reliability and strong attention to food safety standards, including allergen awareness, temperature control, sanitation, and proper food storage
• valid driver's license is required
• ability to sign The Spring's Statement of Faith
• Must be able to pass a 7-year background check. Any job offer will be based on the results of the background testing. A felony does not automatically exclude you from consideration.

Responsibilities

• maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen, dining areas, and equipment
• following all health and safety regulations
• monitoring inventory using proper labeling and rotation methods
• restocking supplies
• promptly reporting maintenance or safety concerns
• provide guidance to volunteers
• attend required trainings
• maintain a current Food Handler's Certificate
