About The Position

The Spring is seeking a motivated and dependable Kitchen Assistant for weekdays from 10am to 6pm . The Spring is a faith-based service provider, shelter, and advocacy organization for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. The Kitchen Assistant prepares and serves preplanned meals, maintains a clean and sanitary environment, and ensures a welcoming, respectful space for guests. This role assists with food preparation, cooking, serving, labeling, and storing meals according to established menus and food safety guidelines. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen, dining areas, and equipment; following all health and safety regulations; monitoring inventory using proper labeling and rotation methods; restocking supplies; and promptly reporting maintenance or safety concerns. The Kitchen Assistant may also provide guidance to volunteers and is expected to attend required trainings and maintain a current Food Handler's Certificate. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of experience in a commercial kitchen or food service environment . The role requires the ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 40 pounds, communicate effectively and professionally, and demonstrate reliability and strong attention to food safety standards, including allergen awareness, temperature control, sanitation, and proper food storage. A valid driver's license is required, as is the ability to sign The Spring's Statement of Faith .
