Across our 60+ locations, we provide programs in a variety of service areas, including workforce development, children, youth, families, seniors and homeless prevention.

The Older Adult Center kitchens provide fresh healthy meals to older adult clients daily.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent credentials preferred.
• Valid Safe Food Handlers’ Certificate or ability to obtain certificate within 3-6 months of employment.
• Experience working in a congregate meal setting responsible for serving, following food safety, communication with caters preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment required
• Proficiency in safe operation of all kitchen equipment and Department of Health Regulations.
• Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary.
• Experience working in a team environment is preferred
• Familiarity with a variety of cultural recipes and preparations preferred
• Reliability and being highly responsible is a must

Responsibilities

• Abide by Department of Health and OSHA regulations regarding kitchen hygiene and maintenance.
• Assist with receiving, serving meals to clients, customer service, cleaning, ordering supplies as needed, and proper storage of food.
• Participate in menu planning.
• Serve food under the direction of the Kitchen Manager.
• Assist with safe handling and proper temperature control of prepared foods.
• Assist with proper functioning and cleaning of kitchen and kitchen equipment, dining areas, and adherence to sanitation standards.
• Assist with packaging and delivery of meals to satellite offices.
• Follow all Department of Aging and New York Department of Health regulations.
• Maintain food usage records and assist in taking monthly inventory.
• Attend relevant BronxWorks training.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.
• Also assist at other sites if necessary.
