What You’ll Do: The successful candidate will possess the appropriate Massachusetts Educators License and provide instruction of elementary curriculum to students developing and modifying instructional programs to meet individual student needs. This individual will work under the general supervision of the building principal and or other designated administrator, manages student behavior, assesses and evaluates student achievement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • Required Massachusetts teaching certification/licensure in Elementary/K-8
  • Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement (Required within 1-year of start date)
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Ability to meet the expectations of the Massachusetts Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching Practice

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree (Preferred)
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience and working in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred.
  • Proven track record of raising student achievement scores in an urban/turnaround environment highly desired.
  • Secondary license in content area or Special Education, also preferred
  • Proficiency with technology (blended learning, teacher/family communication suites (Remind preferred), Google G-Suite Apps, etc.) desirable.
  • Dual Certification (appropriate grade level or Special Education) a plus
  • Second language (Spanish and/or Portuguese) proficiency a plus
  • Bilingual candidates and candidates of color strongly encouraged to apply
  • Current authorization to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Teaches reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, by using the district curriculum and other appropriate learning activities reflecting a deep understanding of state frameworks and use of the workshop model
  • Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned
  • Provides structure in the classroom by promoting a positive classroom environment that is conducive to learning
  • Prepares teaching materials and related reports including ongoing data analyses for the purpose of improving instruction, implementing lesson plans, and documenting student progress
  • Participates in in-service programs to enhance the overall educational experience for students
  • Instructs and provides assistance for student learning, individually or in groups, designing lessons that both present and reinforce learning concepts
  • Works under the general supervision of the building principal and or other designated administrator, manages student behavior, assesses and evaluates student achievement
  • Additional duties may be assigned
