About The Position

Virginia Chance School is seeking Elementary school teachers who reflect the Mission & Vision of the School. Prospective teachers should be team-oriented; educators will work closely with their credentialed co-teacher, teaching team, and the Director of Elementary School. Eligible candidates should be able to incorporate a developmentally appropriate curriculum that addresses the whole child, adheres to progressive education tenets, and Chance's nature-based approach to education daily. In addition, candidates should possess excellent verbal and written communication and positive interpersonal skills in addition to being well-organized and timely. This position is for the 2024-2025 school year (August 2024-May 2025). Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education is required
  • Professional experience working with children elementary-aged children is required.
  • Willingness to commit professionally to progressive education tenets, the Developing Capable Young People approach to discipline, Social and Emotional Learning, nature-based learning, and VCS’s DEIBJ initiatives, is required
  • Candidates must have reliable, timely transportation and be committed to timeliness
