About The Position

The Kindergarten Teacher Assistant supports the classroom teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for kindergarten students. The assistant supports instruction, supervision, and daily classroom operations, ensuring students are appropriately supervised and supported throughout the entire school day, including times outside of the classroom.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Ability to actively supervise students in a variety of settings
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude when working with young learners
  • Commitment to supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of kindergarten students

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with young children preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom teacher with daily instructional activities and lesson implementation
  • Support small-group and individual instruction under the direction of the teacher
  • Help create and maintain a positive, structured, and safe classroom environment
  • Remain with and supervise assigned students during all non-classroom activities, including Related Arts, recess, lunch, transitions, and other activities outside of the classroom
  • Provide active supervision to ensure student safety and appropriate behavior at all times
  • Assist with classroom management and reinforcement of school-wide behavior expectations
  • Prepare instructional materials, organize supplies, and maintain classroom organization
  • Support students with basic needs such as bathroom routines, hygiene, and transitions as needed
  • Observe and report student progress, behavior, or concerns to the classroom teacher or administration
  • Communicate professionally and appropriately with students, staff, and families
  • Follow all school policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
  • Participate in required meetings, trainings, and professional development
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School or his designee
