About The Position

Weyerhaeuser Company is accepting applications for a Kiln Tender position at our Lumber facility in Grifton, NC. This position will be responsible for operating our dry kilns. The successful candidate will participate in an extensive training program to learn how to safely operate the dry kilns used in our lumber drying process. Requirements

  • All applicants must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Applicants must attach a resume detailing education and work history
  • Steady, documented work history
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Able to perform basic math and basic computer skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Good Leadership skills
  • Must be team oriented
  • Willingness to work any shift, including weekends and holidays
  • Willingness and ability to wear all required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work in extreme heat, humidity and cold
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions of the position, which includes climbing stairs, navigating catwalks, lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping, and bending
  • Willingness and ability to learn new jobs and skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating forklift or other mobile equipment strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Total commitment to working safely and following all safety rules and regulations
  • Responsible for safely operating the dry kilns and conducting housekeeping activities in each assigned area.
  • Communicate with leadership to improve safety and operating performance
  • Effectively coordinate the forklift operators to keep lumber flowing through the process and maintain housekeeping standards
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and correct issues in the computer control system used in operating the kilns to dry lumber to maintain tight drying specifications
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs to the dry kilns
  • Communicate with leadership and maintenance more complex tasks
  • Interpreting work instructions adequately and successfully completing tasks as assigned
  • Must demonstrate willingness and ability to learn new jobs and skills
  • Operate mobile equipment as necessary for cleanup and to maintain lumber flow
