The Kiln Lead is responsible for overseeing Kiln PM program and working with the maintenance team to insure best possible kiln performance. Scheduled Shift is 1st half of week Job Responsibilities: · Monitors equipment or processes and reports problems to supervisor · Follows ISO operating procedures and control plan. · Adjust, correct and program the AGV and Flaw master system as needed · Train new and existing employees, assess skill levels and conduct on-going training to achieve proficiency on shift. · Effectively communicate quality issues as they arise to the quality department and/or Shift Manager/Supervisor. · Develop and assist Shift Manager/Supervisor in the data entry of production information into computer systems. · Produce reports relating to quality, scrap, efficiencies and other related reports relating to production. · Support Shift Manager/Supervisors in the communicating of daily production goals, work instructions, and results to team. · Follow safety procedures, standard operating procedures, and quality policies and regulations; Ensure employees complete required related training · Ensure ergonomic risk factors are reduced to an acceptable level when feasible. · Lead injury/illness investigations and ensure accurate root cause is identified and addressed; Where feasible, strive to ensure injured employees do not return to a given job until the causative factors are identified and controlled. · Promotes and adheres to all safety and health policies and procedures of plant. · Performs other duties as requested by Manager. · Make safe condition and operation of Kiln drying process first and highest priority · Ensure drying consistency with a focus on lumber quality and drying metrics · Create drying schedules and adjust seasonally and with fiber changes to dry consistent drying results · Oversee and assist boiler operators doing tasks involved in production of kiln charges and regular maintenance · Gather and analyze all drying data from green lumber to finished product in order to alter process due to seasonal and other influences Position Requirements/Qualifications: · Will be required to effectively communicate work processes, issues and other information relating to production and will assist employees in relating messages to Shift Manager/Supervisor. · Basic understanding of Production Process Areas Good reasoning skills, self-driven, result oriented, and ability to make decisions. · Ability to work with others in team environment. · Ability to lead both individuals and teams. · Demonstrate safe work practices. Education: High School Diploma/GED required Physical Requirements and Work Environment: · Ability to stand for extended periods of time (12 hours minimum) · Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs. continuously during shift, including twisting, turning, or bending with or without product in hand · Ability to work overtime as needed · Ability to work in extreme environmental temperatures · Casual manufacturing environment; Comfortable attire appropriate for manual labor environment
