About The Position

This position is for a Kiln Operator II, responsible for leading the total operation of a lime kiln. The incumbent directly supervises Kiln Operator I on their assigned shift and must exercise significant independent judgment to ensure the efficient operation of the lime kiln. Key duties include preventing equipment malfunctions through repairs or auxiliary power units, making routine adjustments and repairs, monitoring various plant equipment, and collecting data related to lime and carbon dioxide production.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.)
• Two years of hands-on experience and knowledge gained from working in the operation and maintenance of a Water Treatment Plant, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Pumping Facility or Food Processing Facility; OR Six months of experience as a Kiln Operator I AND a valid Ohio EPA Water Supply I certification
• Must possess a valid driver's license, at time of appointment, and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment
• Must not be colorblind
• Must obtain a valid Ohio EPA Water Supply I certification within 24 months of appointment/promotion and maintain as a term and condition of continued employment

Nice To Haves

• Experience with components of rotary kilns preferred

Responsibilities

• Acts as the lead person responsible for the total operation of a lime kiln
• Directly supervises the work of the Kiln Operator I on an assigned shift
• Exercises considerable independent judgment to satisfactorily oversee the operation of the lime kiln
• Is alert to prevent malfunctioning of equipment either through repair work or use of auxiliary power units
• Ensures efficient operation of all equipment
• Makes necessary routine adjustments or repairs
• Monitors various pieces of equipment throughout the plant
• Collects data relative to lime and carbon dioxide production
