About The Position

KidsCare Area Manager The KidsCare Area Manager oversees the planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of activities provided in our school-based KidsCare after-school programs serving elementary students. This role provides direct operational leadership across designated program sites, ensuring programs are safe, well-staffed, and aligned with organizational expectations. The KidsCare Area Manager is a highly present and hands-on leader who supports site teams, responds to staffing needs, and ensures program continuity. This role regularly visits and works directly within program locations and may step in to support daily operations, including supervising youth or covering staffing shortages when necessary. The Area Manager works closely with school partners, staff, and families to ensure consistent, high-quality programming and a positive experience for all participants. Job Summary: The KidsCare Area Manager oversees the planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of activities provided in our KidsCare after-school programs, targeted towards elementary students. They will directly supervisor and oversee operations at designated location sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a role supervising staff and school-aged children in a group setting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated competence working with youth.
  • Experience in program management, staff scheduling, leadership of program staff and participation in activities, goal setting, and program implementation.
  • Experience working with youth with special needs and/or requiring mental health services
  • Proficiency in using a variety of computer software applications, specifically Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities including supervisor of staff and children in program activities.
  • Reliable transportation, safe driving record, active driver’s license, and automobile insurance is required.
  • Position may require standing/sitting for extended periods of time, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, bending at the waist, and ability to lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 20lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of activities provided in school-based after-school programs.
  • Provide direct operational oversight for designated KidsCare sites to ensure program quality and consistency.
  • Regularly visit and work on-site to support program operations and staff.
  • Step into program operations as needed to maintain safe staff-to-child ratios and ensure program continuity during staffing shortages or absences.
  • Supervise KidsCare Program Coordinators and Assistants across assigned sites.
  • Manage staff schedules, time off requests, and timecards.
  • Respond to staffing shortages by providing on-site coverage or coordinating coverage across sites.
  • Provide coaching, support, and training to staff to ensure strong youth development practices.
  • Monitor staff performance and support ongoing development of site teams.
  • Utilize and coach teams on Youth Development Strategies that promote positive behavior, self-esteem, and learning.
  • Ensure program environments support safe, structured, and engaging experiences for all youth.
  • Support staff in managing youth behavior and implementing consistent expectations.
  • Maintain communication with school staff, parents/guardians, and community partners regarding KidsCare operations.
  • Support site coordinators in communicating attendance, enrollment, and billing information with families.
  • Collaborate with the Early Bird Supervisor to ensure accurate member records and billing information.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of program supplies, food, and materials.
  • Safeguard the collection and documentation of cash receipts and payment logs at designated sites.
  • Ensure all health, safety, and licensing requirements are consistently followed.
  • Uphold the organization’s mission, values, and standards across all assigned sites.
  • Serve as a visible leader and support resource for site teams.
  • Other duties as required.
