About The Position
Kid Zone Representative Shift: 8:00am-12:45pm Monday-Saturday and/or 4:00pm-8:00pm Monday-Thursday FLSA Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt Created or Revised Date: 03/16/2026 Rate: $15.16-$16.16 per hour (DOE) Why work at Carbon Valley? What You'll Be Doing: Under the general direction and supervision of the Youth Programs Supervisor, Kid Zone Representatives will be supervising children ranging from 6 months to 9 years of age in our drop-in childcare area within the recreation center.
Requirements
- Candidates over 18 must pass a background check prior to employment.
- Must be available to work all shifts including days, nights, weekends, and some holidays based on the needs of the District.
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Must have the ability to interact with and care for children ages 6 months to 9 years of age and apply age-appropriate guidance
- CPR, AED, first aid certification, or the ability to become certified within the first 90 days of employment
Nice To Haves
- Six to twelve months of childcare experience
- Babysitter Bootcamp Certification (Red-Cross)
Responsibilities
- Have a strong understanding of, and alignment with the District's Core Values: Innovation, Integrity, Teamwork, Customer Service.
- Provide excellent customer service in a timely manner to internal and external customers, and patrons.
- Take full responsibility for all cleaning, sanitation, and safety procedures
- Maintain a detailed communication log for all incidents
- Follow Carbon Valley Parks and Recreation District Kid Zone Behavioral policy and procedures for behavioral guidance.
- Maintain a positive, fun, engaging atmosphere for all children attending Kid Zone
- Maintain a 1:6 ratio at all times
- Must be proficient at communicating internally and externally via email, phone, and in-person to supervisors, co-workers, participants, parents, volunteers, and other community members.
- Attend staff meetings and departmental training
- Perform basic janitorial functions in facilities including but not limited to mopping floors, taking out the trash, cleaning up spills, washing windows, and cleaning children’s toys, books, games, etc.
- Enforces safety rules and policies for all children in attendance
