About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Key Account Manager to support one of our largest and most strategic refinery customers located in Anacortes, Washington or Martinez, California. In this role, you will be the primary on-site technical and commercial leader responsible for delivering high-performance water treatment solutions and ensuring long-term customer satisfaction. You will manage the full scope of the refinery’s water treatment program—including cooling water, high‑pressure boilers, and wastewater systems—while driving revenue growth through consultative selling and value-added technical service. This is a highly visible position with strong impact on customer performance, contract retention, and Solenis’ strategic presence in the West Coast refinery market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in industrial water treatment, with strong expertise in refineries, petrochemical plants, power generation, or heavy industrial environments
  • Technical proficiency in cooling tower, boiler, and wastewater treatment systems
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical, chemical feed, or monitoring equipment
  • Proven track record in consultative selling, account management, and revenue growth
  • Ability to build strong relationships at all levels—operators through senior engineering leadership
  • Strong communication skills, including technical report writing and customer presentations
  • Ability to work independently in a refinery environment with daily on-site presence
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with West Coast refinery sites (Anacortes, Martinez, or wider PNW/California refineries)
  • Experience leading large, complex accounts with multi-million-dollar revenue portfolios
  • Strong understanding of refinery safety practices (LOTO, confined space, contractor onboarding systems)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead technical advisor and relationship owner for a major refinery customer
  • Conduct routine system testing, audits, and performance monitoring for cooling, boiler, and wastewater programs
  • Provide value-added technical service that includes troubleshooting feed systems, pumps, controllers, and monitoring equipment
  • Partner closely with refinery operations, engineering, reliability, and procurement stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities for program optimization, cost savings, and system reliability improvements
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations, business reviews, and written reports
  • Manage chemical inventories, coordinate deliveries, and ensure program compliance with site requirements
  • Lead site projects, equipment upgrades, and program improvement initiatives
  • Maintain and grow account revenue by identifying upsell opportunities and defending program value
  • Collaborate with internal Solenis technical resources, service teams, and operations groups to ensure best-in-class support
  • Ensure all work meets Solenis and refinery safety standards, policies, and procedures
