The Key Account Manager (KAM) is responsible for driving profitable growth and brand presence across key Convenience chains in the Midwest. This role serves as the primary strategic partner to regional and national accounts, owning distribution, programming, promotional execution, and long-term relationship development. The KAM will represent 1st Phorm’s mission and values in the marketplace while collaborating cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Insights, and Operations to deliver best-in-class execution. Success in this role requires a balance of analytical rigor, entrepreneurial hustle, and the ability to build trusted partnerships with buyers, distributors, and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 5+ years of sales/marketing experience in CPG (Convenience experience strongly preferred)
  • Proven success managing regional or national retail accounts
  • Demonstrated ability to grow distribution, velocity, and promotional effectiveness
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate data into action
  • Exceptional relationship-building and influencing skills
  • Highly organized with strong time management and follow-through
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with SPINS/Nielsen a plus
  • Self-starter who thrives in an entrepreneurial, high-accountability culture
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Deliver topline sales, market share, and distribution growth across assigned key accounts and channels
  • Develop and execute annual Joint Business Plans (JBPs) with retailers and distributors
  • Sell in corporate programs, promotional calendars, innovation launches, and merchandising initiatives
  • Expand assortment, shelf placement, and secondary display opportunities
  • Own pricing strategy, trade effectiveness, and ROI within assigned accounts
  • Build and maintain trusted partnerships with corporate buyers, category managers, and distributor leadership
  • Serve as the voice of the customer internally and the face of 1st Phorm externally
  • Influence decision-makers through data-driven storytelling and category insights
  • Maintain consistent communication with field teams, brokers, and internal stakeholders Execution & Analytics
  • Leverage syndicated and internal tools (Circana, Numerator, retailer portals) to identify growth opportunities
  • Track performance vs. goals and deliver weekly/monthly business recaps
  • Monitor competitive activity, pricing, and category trends within the region
  • Partner with Insights and Marketing to optimize programming and new item launches Brand Advocacy
  • Educate retailers and distributors on 1st Phorm’s Better-For-You portfolio and brand mission
  • Support in-market activations, events, and training initiatives
  • Ensure best-in-class execution at store level through distributor partnerships
  • Leverage syndicated and internal tools (Circana, Numerator, retailer portals) to identifygrowth opportunities
  • Partner with Insights and Marketing to optimize programming and new item launches
